Hello again!
Nice to e-meet you. I, Monica Shin, am an enthusiastic UX designer with a unique journey from accounting to start-up operations in fitness to user experience design driven by my curiosity, fervor for learning, and seeking expression of my creativity.
A tech-savvy creative problem solver, I love how UX design requires learning how my friends, neighbors, community, and fellow Earthlings interact with technology and how to connect their daily lives to new solutions that also serve business needs because I understand an Income Statement or EBITDA* from my accounting days.
I thrive in collaborative environments and high-pressure situations—skills I've developed over 20+ years from captaining my high school basketball team and stepping into editorial leadership on the yearbook, to navigating the fast-paced world of public accounting and wearing multiple hats at a fitness franchise startup where I built tools and processes for their education platform (LMS).
Whether I'm building wireframes in Figma based on user research or leading cross-functional teams, I bring energy and strategic thinking to every project

I made my costume of SpongeBob SquarePants in a pirate costume out of a cardboard box for a Halloween event for foster kids.
Away from my keyboard
I advocate for foster kids, teach pilates, indulge in arts and crafts, reading, roller coasters, and competitive jigsaw puzzle-solving (aka Speed Puzzling).
Friends and colleagues often describe me as genuine, hard working, and outgoing, with a knack for bringing people together around shared goals.
